Hildebrand Design HD began when Ron Hildebrand resigned as art director of Cappell, Pera & Reid Advertising (CP&R). He was looking for a position at other ad agencies, when several clients he had worked for at CP&R asked him to continue being their designer. They also referred him to other clients and soon Hildebrand Design was a successful graphic design business. In the late ‘80s and early ‘90s HD became computerized and subsequently almost all graphic design and illustration at HD has been done on a computer. Since 1992 HD has designed many company trademarks and logos. We designed the logo for the Oakland Skates Roller Hockey franchise and had a hand in designing the uniforms for the team and several T-shirts sold at the concession stands. We also designed corporate logos for several startup corporations and high-tech companies as well as their company stationery and collateral material. HD designed many theatre and ballet show-logos and the advertising and promotional material to sell over 50 shows to investors and the theatre-going public. Several of the shows became long-running hits, including Forever Tango, Cole, Noises Off!, Steve Martin's Picasso at the Lapin Agile, and Future Me. HD designed wine labels for two Amtrak trains, The Coast Starlight and The San Diegan. We have designed house wine labels for several well-known restaurants, including The Angus Barn in Raleigh, North Carolina, and John's Grill and Jack's in San Francisco. We also designed a commemorative label for wines that were served at receptions, including one at The White House, during the weeks leading up to the summer Olympic Games in Atlanta, Georgia. For many years HD has done advertising, collateral, and package design work for many corporate, wholesale, retail, high tech, and entertainment clients across the U.S. and abroad. Ron Hildebrand at HD has also written, designed, and illustrated many books for several publishers in the U.S. and Great Britain. Hildebrand Design has now become one of the most versatile and dependable graphic design firms in the San Francisco Bay Area, able to serve clients all across the United States and the world.

Ron is a graduate of the California College of Arts & Crafts in Oakland, California (Now the California College of the Arts), where he earned his Bachelor of Arts degree. His artistic career began while working his way through college for the U.S. Department of Interior and Forest Service, where he was a cartographer at the US Forest Service headquarters and did timber cruising and groundwork for forest service maps in several national parks and forests. Upon graduation, Ron was named Art Director for Cappel, Pera & Reid (CP&R) an advertising agency in Orinda and Los Angeles, California. There he designed, illustrated, and wrote copy for advertising and promotional material for two divisions of Safeway Stores (primarily point-of-sale displays) and numerous other clients in the food, beverage, clothing, and manufacturing industries. Answering the call of entrepreneurship, Ron left CP&R to established Hildebrand Design where he has been a freelance illustrator and designer ever since. Along with illustrations, HD produces advertising, collateral materials, logos, and packaging for clients in all business sectors. |
